Italian Govt temporarily bans ChatGPT use – News

According to the Italian Government’s privacy watchdog, Italy is currently halting the use of the artificial intelligence software, ChatGPT, due to a recent data breach.

The Italian Data Protection Authority has initiated temporary measures to investigate whether the software has breached strict European Union data protection regulations, & has limited the company from processing data belonging to Italian users until the issue is resolved.

In response to the government’s request, OpenAI, the US-based developer of the chatbot, has disabled ChatGPT for Italian users. While the company maintains that its practices are in compliance with European privacy laws, it hopes to restore access to ChatGPT for Italian users in the near future.
