Ladies & gents, Huawei’s new HarmonyOS – News

Huawei has launched its 1st homegrown OS called Harmony. It was in May that Google had suspended the company’s Android licence after the US government put Huawei on a trade blacklist.

Since being by US President Donald Trump, Huawei has been rumoured to be working on its own operating system. We’ve heard that it’s called Hongmeng, that it’s designed to work across smart devices and power Huawei’s phones as an alternative to Google’s Android. On Friday Huawei revealed most of that to be true: At its Huawei Developer Conference (HDC), it made its new operating system official: HarmonyOS.

Huawei announces its new Harmony operating system – BBC

Huawei has announced it is developing a new operating system called HarmonyOS. There had been speculation that Huawei was planning to replace the Android operating system which powers its smartphones and tablets. In May, Google suspended the company’s Android licence after the US government put Huawei on a trade blacklist.
