How to use Google’s ‘Snapseed’ app – e-Why, What & How

how to use SnapseedGoogle-owned Snapseed is arguably one of the best apps for editing photos on your phone. The app, which was originally launched on the iOS platform back in 2011, was later released for Android in 2012 following Google’s takeover of Nik Software the company behind Snapseed.

The app is proudly touted as one of the best photo editing apps for mobile thanks to an intuitive gesture-based interface, simple layout & a long list of useful tools for seamlessly editing your photos right on your phone.

Here’s how to use Snapseed:

This app makes it possible to edit photos in various ways. Once your photo is loaded, you can simply adjust the looks directly by choosing from any of the available filters using the “Looks” button. This is great if what you want is instant edit effects. Snapseed also allows you to make your own filters rather than just pick an existing one.

So how does one use Snapseed? The app also works for those that want to  edit photos  with greater details. For this, you have to make use of the “Tools” button. You can tune the image using some basic editing features like adjusting the brightness & contrast. You can also adjust other features like saturation, ambiance, shadows & so on. All you need to do is to swipe left or right to adjust any of these features.

You  can also adjust the structure of your photo or sharpen it using Snapseed. There is an HDR scape tool for adding instant visual effects to photos. Other impressive editing tools include Grunge, Drama, Vintage, Center-focus, & so on. You can also tilt, crop or resize with Snapseed.

Additionally, while the  app  is quite useful for editing  entire photographs, it also has a  selective editing tool which allows you to tap part of the image & edit that particular area without affecting the rest of the photo. All the changes & adjustments you can make on an entire photograph can be applied to this selected area alone. You can also reverse edits if you make any mistakes. All your edits are “non-destructive”, which means you still get to keep the original photo just in case you’ll like to revert back to it. There is also a social tool that allows you to share your edited photos directly to social platforms like Facebook, Whatsapp & so on.

The Snapseed app is available completely free of charge for both Android & iOS mobile devices. The app is currently available  in more than 40 different languages ensuring seamless use for everyone.
