How to schedule SMS on Android – e-Why, What & How

While text messaging is typically an instant affair, there are times you simply want to schedule a text rather than send it immediately. Scheduling a message ensures that you send vital messages at the right time even when you have a busy schedule.

If you own a Samsung Galaxy & Note smartphone, the stock SMS app that comes with the phone allows you to schedule messages quite conveniently. But this isn’t the case with most of the other Android devices. In this case, you will need to download a different text messaging App for your device with that capability.

Here are some of the best options you can consider while scheduling SMS on Android:

Pulse SMS

This app is said to be one of the best text messaging alternatives for Android devices. There is a premium version for a lifetime fee of $10. However, the basic free version also includes a text scheduler as one of its many impressive features.

To schedule text messages with Pulse SMS, download & install it from PlayStore. Once launched, tap on the orange “+” button. This will prompt you to choose the contact you wish to message. In the conversation window displayed, options button (the 3 vertical dots on the upper right corner). Here you will find the option to schedule message & you can set your preferred date & time.

Do It Later

This is another easy to use an app for scheduling text on your Android device. The best thing about this app is that it is more than just an SMS scheduling app. It also allows you to schedule emails or even your Tweets conveniently.

Do It Later also gives you several scheduling options apart from just date & time. You can select a period 30 minutes, an hour or just tomorrow, or set a time range of between 3:00 to 4:00 pm. This way your message will be delivered anytime within this time range.

The app also allows you to set up a repeating reminder & you can decide to manually confirm every message before it is sent out or have it sent automatically without permission. The free version has all of these features, but comes with ads. To have the ads removed you can simply upgrade to a premium version which costs $2.99.

IFTTT

IFTTT is another popular option for scheduling messages. However, it is less intuitive compared to the other options on this list.

The IFTTT Applet relies on events created on your Google Calendar. This means you should have basic knowledge of how to set up an event to your Google Calendar with specific parameters for this option to work. Once the linked Google Calendar event is triggered, IFTTT automatically sends a message to the number

Conclusion

While there are several great options for scheduling SMS on Android, the apps we’ve mentioned here do the job quite well. They are also quite intuitive & you should be able to set them up on your own in no time.
