How to embed video shot using Twitter app on your Website

In case some of you didn’t know, there’s now a way to embed videos hosted on your Twitter account on your Website, too.

A post on the official Twitter blog details how to go about doing it. With the new embedded video widget, you can highlight Twitter-hosted videos on your Website, using the same JavaScript that is utilized to render Tweet buttons & embedded Tweets.

It was in January this year that Twitter had rolled out 2 features – Group Messaging & video. The Twitter mobile app’s camera was designed to seamlessly capture, edit & even share videos right from within the app. As part of the feature, in just a few taps, users could add a video to unfolding conversations, share their perspectives of a ‘live’ event, & show their everyday moments instantly, without ever having to leave the app. To view & playback the videos, one could preview them in a thumbnail, with a single tap.

The new mobile video camera & inline editing experience lets users capture & share videos up to 30 seconds in an instant. Twitter for iPhone users are able to upload videos from the camera roll as well. Here’s more information on the new Twitter mobile video camera.

Now, the embedding of such videos shot through Twitter’s iOS & Android apps on Websites can also be done. Here’s how:

  • To embed a video on your website, get started by clicking on ••• in a Tweet and then selecting “Embed Video”
  • Next, copy and paste the generated HTML markup on your website to display a video-focused embed. The video widget displays the full, original Tweet when a viewer selects the Twitter logo.
