Hackers zoom in on Reddit – News

Hackers are demanding a ransom from Reddit, threatening to release confidential data stolen during a breach that occurred in February.

The ransomware group known as BlackCat (ALPHV) claims to have obtained 80 gigabytes of compressed data from Reddit’s systems. According to this report, the breach involved a targeted phishing attack, during which employee information and internal documents were accessed.

Reddit has confirmed the cyber incident but stated that there is no evidence of personal user data, such as passwords and accounts, being stolen. However, BlackCat has taken responsibility for the breach and is threatening to leak the stolen confidential data. The hackers have previously been linked to attacks on other companies, including Western Digital and Ring, raising concerns about data security.
