Grant for the Web announces 1st call for proposals – News


Sometime in late 2019, CoilMozilla & Creative Commons had announced a $100 million fund that was expected to push creativity Online, & help “individual creators and monetization service providers while allowing users to directly support content they value.” Whats New On The Net had reported on the same.

That day has arrived. Grant for the Web, the independent, collaborator-led program is now calling for proposals from Netizens to avail of this funding.

Grant for the Web said it will fund projects that “contribute to an ecosystem of Web-monetized Content, users, tools, & infrastructure.”

Through 2 distinct award tracks, the grant will support technology, tools, & infrastructure that innovate around the Web Monetization standard & the Interledger protocol, as well as experiments in the creation, distribution, and discoverability of monetized content. Grant for the Web will award variable amounts for projects up to six months in duration.  Learn more. 

According to a press release, the fund, Grant for the Web, directly addresses some of the most serious problems facing a centralized Internet like the loss of individual privacy, & the rapid spread of misinformation.
