Google’s AI-Powered Search Feature, SGE, Expands Its Capabilities to Include Image Generation and Draft Writing – News

Google’s Search Generative Experience (SGE) has undergone significant enhancements, now capable of generating images and assisting users in drafting content.

Much like Bing’s integration of OpenAI’s DALLE-E 3, SGE now empowers users to create images by inputting prompts directly into the search interface. Furthermore, users can craft drafts within SGE, fine-tuning the length and tone of their written content. These additions mark the latest in a series of rapid updates to SGE, illustrating the rapid advancement of AI technology. Recent months have also seen SGE acquire the ability to provide AI-generated summaries, craft definitions, and enhance various search features, such as coding, travel, and product searches.

For image generation, users can input prompts specifying their desired image type, and SGE will return four results that can be downloaded as .png files or further customized by modifying the initial prompt. This feature leverages Google’s Imagen text-to-image model and is accessible through Google Image search. However, Google has imposed an age restriction, limiting AI image generation to users aged 18 and older, owing to concerns about potentially inappropriate content. The company has enforced stringent filtering policies to prevent the generation of harmful or explicit images that would breach Google’s prohibitive use policies for generative AI.
