Adobe has pioneered an experimental AI-driven upscaling solution designed to enhance the quality of low-resolution GIFs and video clips significantly. While not yet a fully-fledged application or feature, and currently unavailable for beta testing, the demonstrations witnessed by The Verge suggest it holds substantial promise.
Dubbed “Project Res-Up” by Adobe, this initiative employs diffusion-based upsampling technology, a subset of generative AI capable of generating new data informed by the data it has been trained on. The result is an augmentation of video resolution coupled with sharpening and enhanced detail.
