You will no longer be able to use the old Google Pay app on your phone. Under a fresh initiative, Google wants to replace & virtualize physical wallets. Credit & debit cards lead this category, followed by transit & event tickets, airline boarding passes, loyalty/gift cards, & vaccination records. In addition, you can save virtual car keys & student IDs to your phone. It will also integrate with other Google apps.

At its I/O developer conference, Google today launched Google Wallet, a new Android and Wear OS app that will allow users to store things like credit cards, loyalty cards, digital IDs, transit passes, concert tickets, vaccination cards and more. That’s pretty straightforward, but from here on out, it gets a bit confusing.
