Google Enhances Search Privacy Controls with Personal Information Alert and Explicit Image Blur Updates – News

Google is rolling out new updates to its Search feature, designed to give users greater control over the information displayed in their search results.

Building on last year’s release of a tool allowing the removal of search results containing personal information, the company has introduced a new dashboard that alerts users when their personal data appears in search results. With this feature, users can request the removal of such results, reinforcing privacy protection measures. Similar to Google One’s dark Web scanning, which identifies compromised user data, this proactive approach seeks to enhance privacy safeguards.

Accessible through the Google app or a dedicated Webpage, the improved tool is currently available in English within the US, with plans for expansion to other languages and regions in the near future.

In addition to strengthening personal information controls, Google is also updating its system for handling explicit photos of individuals in search results. Users now have a more straightforward option to blur explicit imagery by default, making it easier to manage and protect their online privacy.
