Google acquires GIF maker Tenor – News

GIF maker ‘Tenor’ has been acquired by Google. The announcement was made by Tenor.

Tenor said the new alignment would enable it to “accelerate improvements to Tenor’s service for users, API partners, Content partners, & advertisers.”

Tenor will continue to operate as a separate brand, & the same leadership team will continue to lead it.

It was about 3.5 years ago that Tenor had introduced GIFs to mobile messaging with the launch of the first GIF Keyboard on iOS. Tenor today works the largest messaging apps & social platforms, from Facebook to Samsung. It passed 300 million users in 2017, & earlier this year it had crossed the 12 billion search requests per month.
