Facebook debuts PingTank for Messenger at F8 conference

With PingTank, you can add animation on FB Messenger images

Thanks to tech introduced by mobile app startup PingTank, Inc., users can now add 2D & 3D animation on their photos in Facebook’s new messenger platform to convey their feelings.

Ping Tank yesterday announced the integration of its groundbreaking animated messaging app with Facebook’s new Messenger platform. The technology is accessible through Facebook Messenger’s Discover Tab, & can be downloaded in the iTunes app store. An Android version of PingTank for Messenger will also be available in the Google Play store, soon.

The Los Angeles, US-based PingTank’s current library of animations ranges from 2D animated cartoon expressions, like lipstick kisses & rage faces, to 3D dynamic characters such as the 3D puppy that appears to be emerging from the phone as it licks the screen or the mech that enters the photo & blows it up. Users can take a photo or select one from their camera roll & customize it with whatever expression captures their emotion & make it come alive on the screen.

“Until now, social media platforms only allowed you to ‘like’ content. You couldn’t personalize it in any way,” said Jeremy Greene, PingTank’s Founder & CEO, in a written statement. “With our ever-expanding library of exclusive content, we are offering Messenger users a unique way to explore the limits of their creativity.”

In addition to Greene, who was once one of the most downloaded artists on MySpace music, PingTank’s founding team includes Derek Myska, a software engineer who is the company’s Chief Tech Officer, Christopher Dawes, General Manager,& multi-platinum music producer cum company President Lars Halvor Jensen. Also on the executive team is Jens-Otto Paludan, former CEO of Universal Music DK.
