“DevUtils”: an offline toolbox for developers – Startups

Developers commonly find themselves in a position where they have to repeat certain tasks regularly. These routines might include minifying files, checking if regular expressions validate or converting one file format into another depending on the “language” they’re working on.

DevUtils, built by Tony Dinh for his company Devuap, is an offline tool box that boasts 28 tools that handle numerous operations required during the development of software.

Based in Singapore, DevUtils is a set of small utilities for developers, which are designed to replace Online tools like JSON formatters, Base64 decoders & timestamp converters. Currently, it’s a native macOS app (macOS 10.12+, supports Apple M1 & Big Sur) & works entirely offline. However, Windows’ owners need not despair since Tony is working on a version of the app for this operating system as well.

This offline toolbox for developers can be downloaded from the DevUtils Website for a once off “lifetime-license” fee. This includes any updates & extra tools Tony plans to add in the future. This purchase is valid for 2 computers & the license can be moved from 1 computer to another should the need occur (for instance if you buy a new device).

DevUtils is aimed at saving developers valuable time (see a full list of tools available here). The app also supports developers who require downloads for up to 5 computers, & teams of devs at a special discount for 3 devices each. These prices are for a once off lifetime license.

The app’s Website offers a series of how-to instructions in the form of videos & comprehensive documentation. There’s no steep learning curve involved in utilizing any of the tools & the app allows devs to safely convert & evaluate data offline, rather than pasting their, often sensitive, data into dubious online tools that might well be insecure. DevUtils can only be described as a convenience in a “box”.
