OpenAI has started rolling out plugins in ChatGPT to study their real-world use, impact, & safety and alignment challenges.
It said in an announcement that plugins were a demand of users from the launch of ChatGPT, because “they unlock a vast range of possible use cases.” For now, OpenAI was starting with a small set of users but plans to gradually roll out larger-scale access soon.
Plugin developers who have been invited off the waitlist can use this documentation to build a plugin for ChatGPT, which then lists the enabled plugins in the prompt shown to the language model as well as documentation to instruct the model how to use each. The first plugins have been created by Expedia, FiscalNote, Instacart, KAYAK, Klarna, Milo, OpenTable, Shopify, Slack, Speak, Wolfram, & Zapier.
