‘Charm’ lets you organize your Twitter experience on iOS for free – New app

charmlogoWith this iOS app ‘Charm’ you can save your tweets, or tweets from favorite users, organize them by topic into collections & basically get control over your overall Twitter experience. It makes use of a seldom employed & practically undocumented Twitter API feature for managing collections of tweets so all data related to them is stored on the Twitter Cloud, so you can easily share collections with your followers.

It’s hard to believe that Twitter hasn’t already incorporated Charm’s collection management features into its native apps, but have buried them so as to practically make them impractical to use. With Charm, you can do things with collections like curate playlists with music from your favorite bands or from Twitter music accounts & join up massive tweet back & forth conversations  or monologues so you’ll be able to see them all in one place, without having to favorite each tweet.

Once you save a collection you can tell Twitter how to order the tweets & even add more from any Twitter app like Twitterrific, Tweetbot, or from your browser using the Charm activity extension.  Sharing collections is pretty easy, as the app creates permalinks on Twitter, which you can tweet to your followers or embed them on the Web.

Charm uses Apple’s handoff feature on both iOS & OSX to let you open up & edit a collection on your desktop. This way you can add commentary around the tweets you’ve collected using Charm’s composer, with which you can Tweet & collect in 1 action. & since collections are a native Twitter feature, you don’t actually need to have Charm installed to share them or look at them.

Charm is being developed as an independent project by Twitter coder Ben Ward, who is based in San Francisco, California, USA. Before that Tom worked in Yahoo!. The app is free & can be installed on the iPhone or the iPad (it requires iOS 9.0 or later).
