If you’re a developer who’s been struggling to make your app’s experience a little more special, then you might want to give boomApp a try. It’s tech that can be used by your app through its API to recognize any video or images by just pointing your phone’s camera at it. It has an extensive database against which it matches any known video & provides instant info, to ‘make the world clickable’.

The London, England-based startup also has offices in Lisbon, Portugal, from where the 2 co-founders hail (Joao da Maia Jorge & Nuno Moutinho) have been developing this tech for the last 2 years. They’ve come up with a proprietary algorithm that’s capable of searching through a database with many thousands of hours of video in under 5 seconds. Uniquely, they can even do this with shaky, poor quality video taken on smartphone cameras.

Things like movies, trailers, TV shows & a lot more content can easily & quickly be recognized by the tool. The company claims that the tech is fully scalable, so that if you have millions of videos that you need to scan, it will deliver the same less than 5 second recognition performance.

Boomapp’s developed a RESTful API which they have integrated in 3 different SDKs to support the major platforms: Android, iOS & Web, so you can develop natively for any of these mobile platforms, including native integration with Web apps. In fact, a number of major corporations have already taken advantage of boomApp, here are some examples taken from boomApp’s product page:

KIA’s treasure hunt campaign: The campaign was aimed at finding the hidden offer inside a KIA Sportage video, resulting in massive increase in video engagement & a cool new way of running contests.

Carte D’Or’s ice cream menu: With a simple interaction with the physical menu directly at the restaurants, kids are able to play a virtual reality game and be entertained while the parents enjoy their meal.

Volkswagen’s Tiguan 360º campaign: Volkswagen made the New Tiguan communication interactive with their own App. Users had access to exclusive content and engaged in a totally different way with the new SUV.
