Replace new Tab page with Sites that matters with ‘ctrl tab’ – #Startups

‘Ctrl tab’ is an open source extension/add-on for Chrome & Firefox browsers which makes it possible for users to customize their “new tab” page on the browser with news feeds & trending topics from their favorite news & tech Websites. This way when you open up a new tab, your browser isn’t merely showing a blank page or stuff you are not interested in, rather you can find interesting topics from your favorite places & go ahead to check them out if you want.

Ctrl tab also comes with an option to customize what you see. “Featured Sites” includes up to 20 Websites from various categories & covering varying topics from technology, to news, finance, shopping, productivity & so on. You can choose those sites that you find relevant to you & also customize them further by adding or removing tiles so that it appears just the way you want it to.

Currently, there is an option in the Chrome extension that makes it possible to log into ‘to do list’ directly from the new tab, & according to Manthan Mallikarjun a student at the University of California, Santa Cruz, who is the developer behind the project, other login options will soon be added to the extension. Other updates to expect includes an RSS feeds options which will allow users to add additional Sites asides the ones already on offer.
