Google launches ‘Blog Compass’ mobile app for bloggers

Blog Compass

Google’s just launched an Android app for bloggers. Called ‘Blog Compass’, the app “helps bloggers manage their Site & find topics to write about.”

1st spotted by TechCrunch, Blog Compass, for now, is only for bloggers in India. What it essentially does is throw up trending topics based on a person’s interests as well as posting history. A blogger can track Site stats, approve comments, & even read tips for how to make your blog more successful all in one place. What’s even better is that the app is compatible with WordPress & Google’s own Blogger.com blogs.

According to its Website, this new smartphone app will send you trending topic ideas based on your blog’s theme, & your interests.

Although the new app is in beta, there are several things that Google has to factor in before eventually proclaiming it as a success. While the world seems to be moving on to mobile computing devices, using an app to suggest blog ideas seems a little at cross-purposes. Also, another question that pops up is – will such blogs get more rankings in Google search?

The comments of early users of Blog Compass provide an insight into where this new app is headed. The majority view is elated that this will help India’s non-English bloggers. Others have talked of the benefits of having blog ideas, keywords research & AdSense tips all under 1 hood. At least 22 languages are spoken in India, not counting the various dialects.

Of late, Google has released several India-centric products & services. India’s seems to be fast becoming its largest laboratory. This Website had recently reported how in the matter of the pay app ‘Tez’, Google had announced its intent to “unify all payment offerings globally” & re-naming Tez to Google Pay.

It was last September that Google launched Tez, a digital payments app made for India. Google claims in just under a year, Tez was being used by 22 million people & businesses who use it every month. Tez had made it easy to recharge a phone or pay the monthly electricity bill in just a few taps. And because it’s built on BHIM UPI, users can send money to anyone, even if the recipient is on another payments app.

Google has officially not reacted to the launch of this new smartphone app Blog Compass. We shall keep you posted as & when more details are available.
