Amazon Sidewalk ready to be launched this year – News

“Amazon Sidewalk” is all set to launch by the end of this year, a network project. It said on its official blog that when launched, the project will provide “immediate benefits to customers”.

For example, with Sidewalk, you can continue to receive motion alerts from your security cameras even when your Wi-Fi goes down. Or if your Wi-Fi does not reach your smart lights at the edge of your driveway, Sidewalk will help them stay connected.

What is Amazon Sidewalk & How Does It Work?

Customers will be able to access Sidewalk using 2 types of devices: Sidewalk Bridges & Sidewalk-enabled devices. Sidewalk Bridges, including select Ring Floodlight Cams & Ring Spotlight Cams, are devices that provide connections to Sidewalk.

Sidewalk-enabled devices connect to Sidewalk Bridges to access the network. Customers with a Sidewalk Bridge can contribute a small portion of their Internet bandwidth, which is pooled together to create a shared network that benefits all Sidewalk-enabled devices in a community.

It was only last fall that Amazon had first announced the Amazon Sidewalk, a neighborhood network designed to make your devices work better — both inside your home & beyond the front door.

Operated by Amazon at no charge to customers, Amazon Sidewalk will rely on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), the 900 MHz spectrum, & other frequencies to simplify new device setup, extend the low-bandwidth working range of devices, & help devices stay Online & up-to-date even if they are outside the range of home Wi-Fi.
