In a recent entry on his blog GatesNotes titled, “The Age Of AI Has Begun”, billionaire entrepreneur & philanthropist Bill Gates voiced worry that Artificial Intelligence (AI) might rule the world.
Gates mentioned a conversation he had with AI in September. He claimed that he was shocked to learn that the AI aced an AP Bio exam with the highest possible score.
What advice would you provide to a father of a sick child, he had questioned the AI. The response that followed, according to Gates, was superior to anything anyone in the room could have offered. The answer was absent from the billionaire’s blog article. This interaction, Gates said, inspired a deep reflection on the way that AI will impact industry & the Gates Foundation for the next 10 years.
The development of AI is as fundamental as the creation of the microprocessor, the personal computer, the Internet, and the mobile phone. It will change the way people work, learn, travel, get health care, and communicate with each other. Entire industries will reorient around it. Businesses will distinguish themselves by how well they use it.
