This social network puts punch back into business networking – #Startups

Editor’s note: Since this article appeared, Peero has changed its name to Chet.

Finding a job is not what it used to be. These days a lot of the old job market mainstays like job postings, making physical connections & word of mouth don’t work or aren’t enough to land you a job. Online recruiting & LinkedIn have come along & really changed things, but it can be difficult to navigate this maze. This is where (Peero) chet comes in, a new business social networking app that aims to make the process easier & more fun, letting professional simultaneously network & socialize.

Although not launched yet, you can get access by signing up early.

This social network’s sharing feature allows networked members to “connect through common interests or experiences.” There’s nothing better than finding out that you have recently read the same books, attended the same conferences or shared an experience with someone who’s looking to make a new hire.

The app comes with pre-selected sharing options & a ‘live’ activity feed.

Unlike LinkedIn, which is mainly used by headhunters & HR recruiters, chet seeks to “put the power back in the hands of professionals looking to make connections or connect with friends, classmates, or colleagues. It does this through an Instagram-esque feed of recent activity, letting connected users know what people around them are reading, listening to, or watching.”

This new app is looking to take advantage of the fact that people are more social & like to use social media to share their experiences & interests online more each day. Connections made Online “foster & maintain connections in the real world”, & the goal here is to become the go-to place for job seekers & providers to match up.

Chet is based in New York, USA.
