With Facebook’s announcement in January 2016 of its Chat SDK, with which you can build interactive experiences & ‘bots’ in Messenger for online shopping, travel bookings & more, the design group Mockuuups has made available a ‘Bots UI kit’ for free to help other designers & developers make stylish customizable bots. It comes with pre-designed artboards & elements that you can incorporate into the design of your own bots.
By using the native Mac Sketch platform, designers can define user interfaces (UI), Websites, icons & other elements based on vector shapes which allow you to adapt easily to changing styles, sizes & layouts, without the need for lots of tweaking. Shapes created with Sketch are objects represented as items in the Layers List which can be combined to create complex shapes which are 100% editable. It comes with an Inspector which allows you to control all aspects of objects: positioning, opacity, fills, borders, layer styles, text styles, blending modes… It’s easy to reuse elements without having to copy & paste, & its built-in tools automate the cut-up, exporting, & resizing of designs, including layers, CSS styles & printing of mockups.
The Bots UI kit greatly simplifies the process of prototyping bots for the Messenger platform. It is a structured, fully customizable .sketch file which you can use on the Sketch platform, with all important elements turned into new branded symbols, which you can use to customize your Facebook Messenger bot. In a post elsewhere on the Web, Marek Hrabe, a founder at Mockuuups, stated that the idea behind the UI kit came on the heels of the recent Facebook F8 developer conference & was launched in just 1 day. Mockuuups is aiming the kit at the many companies that they feel are going to prototype their bot integrations on Messenger using Sketch & thus try to make their life a bit easier.
