If you can’t use WhatsApp, here’s a way out – Social media

For those of you out there who find their WhatsApp accounts blocked for any reason, here’s a way out offered by none other than WhatsApp itself.

The company said it was launching “proxy support” for WhatsApp users all over the world. What this means is the power to maintain access to WhatsApp if a user’s connection is blocked or disrupted will now be in the hands of the user itself.

Which means if you are blocked by your government from using WhatsApp, all you need to do is choose a proxy to connect to WhatsApp through servers set up by volunteers & organizations around the world. If you have the ability to help others connect, you can learn how to set up a proxy here.

Holding company Meta said connecting via proxy “maintains the high level of privacy & security that WhatsApp provides.” Your personal messages will still be protected by end-to-end encryption.

This option is now available in the “settings” menu for everyone running the latest version of the app. More information about how to use this feature is here.
