UK body says password sharing of Netflix, Prime etc is a crime – News

A report in torrentfreak.com says that as per a new piracy guidance issued recently by the UK Government’s Intellectual Property Office (IPO) members who share their Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Disney+ passwords were “violators of copyright law.”

The IPO also told TorrentFreak that password sharing could also mean criminal liability for fraud. All this came after IPO announced a new campaign in partnership with Meta, aiming to help people avoid piracy & counterfeit goods Online.

The office has pointed out that there were a range of provisions in criminal & civil law which may be applicable in the case of password sharing where the intent is to allow a user to access copyright protected works without payment.
