In keeping with Facebook’s re-branding & thrust on building a new Web called the “metaverse”, Meta has launched Messenger support in virtual reality (VR), allowing users to send messages from inside the headset. Very soon, it plans to do away with actual typing out of messages by introducing Messenger audio calls to VR. users will be able to jump into an audio call with friends from any Messenger-enabled platform & eventually hang out or travel to VR destinations together, said Meta.
The tech major says the metaverse will eventually encompass work, entertainment, & everything in between. Like phones & laptops today, this new platform needs to be flexible enough to accommodate all these different use cases, including Messenger VR.
