The Internet As A Media And a Medium
Facebook will be paying mainstream news outfits in the UK millions of pounds to license their news reports for its upcoming FB News.
Social network Facebook has started testing ‘Keyword Snooze’ button in News Feed to give members more control over what they want to see.
Despite launching products like Instant Articles & News Feed, FB realized, not too late in the day, that its relationship with publishers was going nowhere. In fact, it was proving to be detrimental & quite frankly, a headache for Mark.Z & his team. So the goodbye.
“Because space in News Feed is limited, showing more posts from friends & family & updates that spark conversation means we’ll show less public Content, including videos & other posts from publishers or businesses.” – Mark Z.
Within News Feed Preferences, users may now tap on a friend’s profile picture to see their posts 1st. They will then see any new stories they’ve shared since their last visit to Facebook at the top of News Feed, with a star in the top right of their post.
Social network Facebook has decided to tweak its News Feed algorithm that, it says, could affect referral traffic for publishers. Making the announcement on its official blog, FB explained the goal of News Feed was to show users the Content that mattered. This meant pushing the right mix of updates from friends & public figures, publishers, businesses & local organizations that users were connected to.
