SipSup is a “social”, interactive glass with Android social sharing app

This article was 1st published on our sister Site, Digital World Native.
sipsupSipSup is a glass for drinking beverages. So what’s it doing on this Site? That’s because SipSup is not your ordinary, everyday glass.

Its makers have described it as “a uniquely designed glass” crafted in collaboration with Slovenian glassworks Steklarna Hrastnik. “The curve of the glass is designed to fit your hand perfectly, & the base resembles a clear glass ripple spreading around a drop of water,” they claim. The design has got a Vitrux certificate for its outstanding optical properties. It’s a 16oz glass that is dishwasher resistant, which makes washing it a breeze.

Again, all that’s fine but how does all this merit a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign, for example? What’s so special about it? Okay, here’s the answer – this is an “interactive glass” with social sharing & Android app comes into the picture. Seriously.

Add social sharing, an app & you can make anything look cool, & so it is with SipSup. You are only able to access & use the app if you have the glass. Download & install the app from Google Play. The company is keeping a tight lid on details, but media reports say that once you have the app installed on your phone, you will be able to access the app when it’s close to the phone. You can then drop selected moments into it to share your photos & videos.

You can set permissions so that only you get to see the uploads if you want to keep them private. Or you can make them public, in which case anyone who connects to your SipSup using their NFC supported Android smartphone can see your photos & videos.

Slovenia-based SipSup was co-founded in Jan 2015 by Anze Volovsek & two other friends. Find out more about the app & the glass with the black dot & other features & pricing once the campaign debuts on Kickstarter on June 19.
