A beautiful view is a valuable commodity, think how the price of beachfront accommodation compares to that situated inland. Escaping the confines of everyday settings is a motivating impetus to travel, take in a movie or play an immersive game. VR & AR systems have long tapped into the dreams people hold to shake off their reality, but public buy-in has been hindered by the cumbersome & pricey wearables associated, such as headgear or glasses.

Roomality takes a different approach to igniting the imagination & presenting an alternate reality for consumers. The system projects a “window” to a selection of views from its database of possibilities, which include super-realistic forest, beach & city-skyline views. Currently the platform is under development, but reports detail that it’s powered by the Unreal Engine system, which is an open & advanced real-time 3D creation tool.

Roomality has a 3 phase action plan detailed on its Website. Phase 1 is completed, which ensures that the system is able to track eye movement & project a virtual landscape onto a large screen. Phase 2 will see the development of a system that projects onto an entire wall. This projection will add the dimension of French doors, a large balcony or full walled window, offering users the feeling that they could step out onto a terrace & enjoy their virtual surroundings. Phase 3 will project onto every wall in a room, giving a dome-like effect. This final phase may involve a purpose-built rounded dome to ensure total “immersiveness”.
