NETSCOUT found a 25% spike in mid-March; VPN use soars as well. By now -, it’s no revelation that the COVID-19 pandemic has caused an unprecedented global shift to remote work and online learning, but global internet use patterns are also emerging and not surprisingly, have spiked. NETSCOUT, a provider of network and application performance monitoring tools, delved into recent worldwide traffic patterns and found a major jump to “an instant 25% to 35% increase in internet traffic” in mid-March when the majority of the world shifted to remote work.
