Microsoft to introduce AI-generated summaries – News

Microsoft is set to introduce AI-generated review summaries to its Microsoft Store. The summaries will appear alongside the traditional rating system, giving customers a top-line overview of the reviews.

But it is not clear yet how Microsoft will vet the information that surfaces in the summaries or protect against abuse, such as bad faith review-bombing. Developers will also be unable to refuse a review summary on their apps. The AI hub is intended to guide customers on their “AI journey,” and will showcase where users can get started with AI-powered creativity and productivity tools.

In addition to the new AI review summaries, Microsoft will also allow customers to select multiple categories for each app. The company has also updated its backup and restore systems to return Microsoft Store apps to their previous locations in the taskbar and Start menu when users upgrade Windows or switch computers. Finally, Microsoft Store Ads will soon appear in Bing search results, with new video ads coming to the Microsoft Store spotlight section. June will also see Microsoft Store Ads expand to 150 regions outside of the US.
