LastPass introduces 2-factor authenticator

lastpasslogoPassword manager LastPass has introduced the ‘LastPass Authenticator’, a free 2-factor authentication app for your LastPass account & other supported services.

The announcement was made on its official blog. The new feature offers the simple authentication by generating 6-digit, time-based passcodes or sending users a “push notification” for 1-tap login to LastPass.

What Is 2-Factor Authentication?
2-factor authentication has emerged as a way to go beyond the password & add even more security to the accounts that need protection.

The 1st “factor” is typically a username & password that the user enters. The 2nd is typically something the user has (like a generated code), something the user is (like a fingerprint), or even somewhere the user is. Requiring both is what adds additional security to an account. Even if the password for an account is compromised, an attacker would be thwarted in their attempt to access that account without the additional login data.
