Google has announced that starting with Android 12 on Pixel devices, users will be able to completely personalize their phones with a custom color palette & redesigned widgets. All software & hardware ecosystems were being unified under a single design language called Material You.

Announcing this at this year’s Google I/O developers conference, Google said users of Android will be able to personalize their phones using what is called as “color extraction”. This would allow them to choose their wallpapers, & the system will then automatically determine which colors were dominant, which ones were complementary & which ones just looked great. It will then apply those colors across the entire OS: the notification shade, the lock screen, the volume controls, new widgets, etc.
