Google to verify users who have 2-step verification on – News

In the interests of Online security, Google has decided to verify users who have enrolled in two-step verification (2SV) to confirm it’s really them with a simple tap via a Google prompt on their phone whenever they sign in.

It said on its official blog, The Keyword, that it would soon start to automatically enrol users in 2SV if their accounts were appropriately configured. (You can check the status of your account in the Security Checkup).

As part of its overall strong password management plan, Google further said it was also building advanced security technologies into devices to make the multi-factor authentication seamless & even more secure than a password. For example, it had built security keys directly into Android devices, & also launched the Google Smart Lock app for iOS, so now people could use their phones as their secondary form of authentication.
