Google Registry launches 8 new top-level domains – News

Google Registry has launched eight new top-level domains, including .dad, .phd, and .prof.

These domains are designed to cater to different communities, such as fathers celebrating Father’s Day and graduates celebrating their achievements. Google said the .dad domain was “a place for celebrating fatherhood”, with Websites like Classic.dad offering fun games and Dear.dad providing stories of Black fathers.

The .prof, .phd, and .esq domains were for showcasing academic and professional credentials, with early adopters like attorney and money expert Erika Kullberg using the .esq domain to better position people for success.

Other new domains include .foo, .zip, .mov, and .nexus. The .foo domain is still under development and its purpose is yet to be determined, while .zip is aimed at file compression software and .mov is for video content. The .nexus domain is for businesses and organizations that bring people and resources together.

Google Registry has a reputation for launching popular and secure top-level domains, with .app and .dev among their most successful offerings.
