Google introduces end-to-end encryption in Gmail – Quick wrap

Google has said it had now brought in end-to-end encryption on Gmail. Once enabled, Gmail client-side encryption will ensure that any sensitive data delivered as part of the email’s body & attachments (including inline images) can not be decrypted by Google servers.

Google said with Gmail client-side encryption beta, you can send & receive encrypted emails within your domain & outside of your domain.

  • What’s encrypted in Gmail
Email body & attachments, including inline images
  • Not encrypted in Gmail
The header of the email, including subject, timestamps, & recipients lists
