Inside.com gathers together in 1 place some of the best quality newsletters you’re likely to run into & you don’t have to put up with heavy handed Web marketing with their no BS subscription service. They currently have 8 tech & business-related newsletters available, with more coming through an upvoting/sponsorship scheme.
You basically subscribe to Inside.com’s professionally written newsletters like you would to any other newsletter on the Web, by providing your email address, & then you’ll get them delivered anywhere from daily to twice weekly. The titles include an ‘Inside Daily Brief’, which is a “concise roundup of the world’s most interesting news”, in less than 1000 words that you can read in about 7 minutes, & crafted by 2-3 writers, that digests the most interesting trends, news & other links to get you informed & ahead of the curve.
You can also subscribe to newsletters with more focused, specialized topics in mind, especially in the tech realm:
- Inside San Francisco – News & highlights from around the Bay Area
- Inside VR & AR – Virtual/Augmented Reality news
- Inside Electric Vehicles – In-depth news about electric vehicles
- Inside Security – In-depth cybersecurity analysis
- Inside Drones – Drone news for hobbyists, professionals, & investors
- LAUNCH Ticker – Curated top stories in tech
- ReadThisThing – 1 link to a “fascinating” piece of journalism
The startup behind Inside.com was founded by CEO Jason Calacanis, a famed angel investor, venture capitalist, blogger & serial entrepreneur. He started the company in 2014 as a news service around a mobile app, but earlier this year ditched the app & pivoted to the current email-based service, which he claims is something that has “much better engagement”.
The company says that news on the Internet is “broken”, as a lot of what’s being written is not quality-focused & is instead optimized & incentivized for traffic & virality. Web publications tend to focus on getting easy hits & traffic & rarely engage or establish relationships with their audience. This is something they seek to remedy by engaging with their audience directly via email, bypassing social network traffic & virally optimized headlines.
“Up-and-coming” is perhaps one of the most interesting sections on the Site. Here, you’re asked to vote & pre-subscribe from a list of “possible” newsletter topics. Then if the goal is reached, that is: a target number of votes/subscribers is reached, Inside.com brings in expert writers to launch them. You can even propose your own newsletter to have it included in the Up-and-coming list, or you can become a sponsor.
