“Files by Google” is for managing files on Android devices – Startups

Files by Google (previously called Files Go) is an app developed by Google that helps users organize files effectively on Android devices. The app is particularly designed for cheaper or older phones that have limited storage space because it frees up space that is used by unnecessary or unwanted files.

The app offers users suggestions that help clean up their device by looking for files that are broken, duplications or merely unnecessary temporary files generated by apps that are no longer necessary. The app also makes suggestions about apps that should be deleted because the user hasn’t opened the app for a while.

Files of all types are targeted by Files by Google, so users can use it to manage images, audio, videos, apps & text files. A good example of the type of file that the app looks for are memes, videos & images stored on messaging apps like WhatsApp. Very often users forget to delete these files, despite the fact that they are unwanted.

Files by Google acts as a file search facility, too. Users can browse through their files or search for particular files by name, type, date or size. This feature is particularly useful for finding large files that are better stored on a Cloud service, such as Dropbox or Google Drive.

Additionally, the app offers a file transfer option that works without an Internet connection so that nearby devices can swap files. The feature works at lightning speed, so even large files can be transferred quickly.

Files by Google is completely free to download & use & is a great option for users who live in third world countries where cheaper phones without good storage capacity are the norm. The app is also tiny so it won’t affect the storage space on smaller devices.
