Father of Internet cautions against rush to invest in AI – News

The “Father of the Internet” & Internet evangelist Vint Cerf has cautioned business owners against investing immediately in conversational AI just because it’s a trending issue.

While speaking at a conference in Mountain View, California, CNBC reported that Cerf said AI chatbots also have “an ethical issue” that he hopes people will think about before investing in the technology.

He stated that investing in AI raises ethical questions & that the technology is not yet developed enough to make near-term investments. He also cautioned that engineers should work to tame some of these technologies so that they are less likely to damage people because humans will always desire to do what is best for themselves rather than the firm.

Vinton Gray Cerf has served as vice president & chief Internet evangelist for Google since October 2005. Cerf & Robert Kahn are two American computer scientists who are considered one of the founders of the Internet. Cerf is responsible for identifying new enabling technologies to support the development of advanced, Internet-based products & services from Google. He is also known for his pioneering work on internetworking, including the design & implementation of the Internet’s basic communications protocols, TCP/IP3.
