Many of you may still be clueless on Facebook’s answer to Amazon Echo called ‘Portal, launched some years ago, but you may be excused because of its limited availability. Anyway, FB today expanded its ‘Portal family’ of home video-calling devices with three more models – Portal, Portal Mini & Portal TV – & a host of other added features, including making calls using WhatsApp.

Facebook will also launch Portal in more countries, so now in addition to the US & Canada, Portal will be sold in the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Australia & New Zealand. You may check here for details – portal.facebook.com.

Features of Portal Mini, Portal & Portal TV

The re-designed Portal & all-new Portal Mini now will feature a picture frame design to “fit seamlessly into any home”, announced FB on its blog. Portal Mini has an 8-inch HD display, while Portal has a larger 10-inch HD display for video calls, displaying photos & watching videos in either portrait or landscape orientations. Both will also have a powerful built-in speaker that is great for listening to music when you are not on a call.

Portal TV, on the other hand, will have smart video-calling to the largest screen in your home, sitting on top of or below your television for immersive video calling.
