Facebook AI research has taken further steps. Its launched “Ax” & “BoTorch”, two open-source artificial intelligence tools at its F8 developer conference.
BoTorch is a specialized tool based on PyTorch for Bayesian optimization.
Ax is a general-purpose platform for managing, deploying & automating AI experiments.
Chief Technology Officer Mike Schroepfer & his colleagues explained to the developers gathered at F8 what these tools were all about in the on-going Facebook AI research.
FB’s experimentations center around the aim of making its under-development AI systems understand Content with as little supervision as possible.
It claims to have made important strides in this process, but has a long way to go.
Advances in natural language processing (NLP) has helped FB create a digital common language for translation, so it can catch “harmful Content” across more languages.
A new approach to object recognition called Panoptic FPN has helped its AI-powered systems understand context from the backgrounds of photos. Training models that combine visual & audio signals further improves results.
