Exodus cryptocurrency wallet launches browser extension – Startups

The world of cryptocurrency may be a mystery to non-participants, but there is a lot of interest across the board. Exodus is a crypto wallet & the company behind this initiative aims to make crypto mainstream: to remove the “geek-factor”, as they so eloquently put it.

Founded in 2015 by J P Richardson & Daniel Castagnoli, Exodus offers crypto wallets for desktop & mobile, but it has added to its portfolio of products now a browser extension for Chrome & Brave. This means that crypto enthusiasts can interact with Web3, Tokens & NFTs directly within their browser if they’re working on a desktop. The extension actually facilitates storing NFTs in the form of a gallery, which is efficient & aesthetically pleasing.

Currently, the Exodus Browser Extension supports the Solana network, but other networks such as Ethereum & Polygon will be added shortly. The extension allows users to engage with DApps (Decentralized Apps), such as games, & other Web3 crypto offerings (think Metaverse), as well as store & exchange NFTs. Additionally, the extension facilitates buying, sending & exchanging crypto assets & convenient payment methods, such as debit or credit cards & Apple Pay.

To install the extension, head over to the browser store (Chrome Browsers) & click to download. On the “Add to Chrome” or “Add to Brave” prompt, the extension will be installed. You can pin it to the task bar of your browser with a few clicks, too. Next you need to link your assets if you have an Exodus wallet, or sign up for a new one. Exodus provides a 12 character secret “key”, which must be kept safely as it gives access to your wallet & cannot be retrieved if lost.

Exodus is a non-custodial wallet, which means that it does not control any assets within its wallets. It simply provides a holding shell for transactions & private token ownership. This method of maintaining a crypto portfolio is safer than the custodial option such as that offered by other exchanges because it means that token ownership is not considered an asset of the exchange for valuation purposes.

The extension is available on all desktop computers running a Chrome Browser & Exodus guarantees client privacy, so your transactions are anonymous.
