Ericsson & UNESCO launch global AI skill development initiative for youth – AI

Teleco Ericsson and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) have announced a partnership to “educate and empower” the next generation in artificial intelligence (AI). AI for youth seems to be the motto with the new partners all set to develop a new digital skill learning program that has specific emphasis on scaling up AI skill development for young people.

A press release by Ericsson said with the rapid deployment of advanced technologies such as mobile broadband, Cloud, Internet of Things (IoT), automation and AI, a new set of skills was required of human resources to enter the workforce.

The impact of AI was also being felt across the education sector where it had the potential to increase access, automate process, curate learning and improve outcomes in education.

With this background, Ericsson and UNESCO were combining their respective strengths to create opportunities to scale up skill development in AI and other key digital skills for young people.
