PayPal – Google Pay hack: Multiple thefts reported – News


Over last weekend, hackers exploiting a bug in PayPal’s Google Pay integration, used it to carry out unauthorized transactions via PayPal accounts running into thousands of dollars.

According to reports, this was happening since last Friday. PayPal has now said it had rectified the issue. Victims reported that their Google Pay accounts were abused to buy products using linked PayPal accounts. Many of the illegal transactions were reported at US stores, & especially at Target stores across New York. Others were reported from Germany.

PayPal Accounts Abused En-masse For Unauthorized Payments – ZDNet

Hackers have found a bug in PayPal’s Google Pay integration and are now using it to carry out unauthorized transactions via PayPal accounts.

Since last Friday, users have reported seeing mysterious transactions pop up in their PayPal history as originating from their Google Pay account.
