Command E: A faster way to navigate your workspace – Startups

tools to navigate your workspace

Whether you’re in sales, programming, digital marketing or any other discipline, you probably need a plethora of apps to assist you in getting your work done.

However, you’ve probably discovered that it’s difficult to synchronize your workflow, especially when tasks require multiple applications & you need to get them done in speed. Rest assured, you’re not alone in your frustration. The requirements of most tasks mean you need to juggle between apps such as Gmail, Google Docs, LinkedIn, Salesforce or some other essential app, & in so doing you waste valuable time. All of this making you sometimes wish that there were tools to navigate your workspace.

Now, imagine if you could conserve all this “wasted” energy using one app? This app acts as a dashboard to search through all of your other apps to instantly surface the exact thing you need. Wouldn’t that be great? Well, “Command E” is the app for you.

The developers here have built a search app that purports to find everything in your Cloud, or on your computer instantly, without having to swap between apps. Command E will search through your entire workspace to find, say a LinkedIn profile, then an email address for the profile in your contacts; it’ll open Gmail & Google docs so that you can send a note you’ve composed to the person in question, all without any effort on your behalf, other than typing in a search term. What’s more, setup is quick, & no backend integration is required.

Command E supports a host (20+) of 3rd party apps that most people use every working day. The list includes Google Drive, Salesforce, Dropbox, Notion, Jira, Superhuman, Asana, Hubspot & Heroku, to name a few. Searches can be conducted via a quick, one keyboard shortcut on your device, taking the hassles out of constantly swapping around.

The app works on both Windows & Mac, & is also available as a Google Chrome extension.

Co-founders Tom Uebel & Ben Standefer believe that they’ve built a tool that works so seamlessly on a device that users will regard it as a native application. Like all the best ideas, Command E is based on a simple premise, but what it offers makes a big difference. Perhaps, that’s why, several investors have reportedly backed & funded Command E’s development to the tune of US $4.3 million.
