A new report by Canalys shows that Chinese search engine Baidu was now the world’s 2nd biggest vendor of smart speakers, overtaking Google.
The research firm saids Baidu had 17.3% of the global market with 4.5 million shipments in the second quarter of 2019.
Amazon was still the pack leader with over 25% share of the market & 6.6 million shipments. Baidu finished the quarter with 4.5 million units shipped, outdoing Google’s 4.3 million. Amazon shipped 6.6 million units.
The report said the global smart speaker market grew 55.4%, reaching 26.1 million units in the second quarter, but the US market had declined by 2.4%, with 6.1 million units shipped.
