BuzzFeed acquires news HuffPost – News


BuzzFeed has decided to acquire HuffPost. The acquisition is entirely in stock, & Verizon will get a stake in BuzzFeed. Verizon will also invest cash in BuzzFeed. BuzzFeed CEO Jonah Peretti, who helped launch The Huffington Post, will run both BuzzFeed & HuffPost when the deal closes.

Verizon, which also owns Yahoo and TechCrunch, said it will invest in the new combined company and take a minority stake. The companies will syndicate content across each other’s platforms, explore monetization opportunities and leverage ad formats, the companies said in a statement.
