Apple’s Screen Time Woes Persist: Restrictions Still Disappearing Despite Previous Claims of Fix – News

Numerous parents are facing issues with Apple’s “Screen Time” feature, as the restrictions they set on their children’s devices are unexpectedly getting canceled without any prior notification. Despite Apple’s earlier claim of resolving this problem in iOS 16.5, it appears that the issue persists even in the latest public beta of iOS 17.

When utilizing Family Sharing, parents can employ Screen Time to manage their kids’ device usage effectively. This feature allows them to impose four types of restrictions. Firstly, Downtime enables parents to set specific hours during which device usage is automatically disabled, such as bedtime or designated study times. Secondly, they can establish daily time limits for particular apps or categories, like games. Thirdly, communication can be limited to approved contacts either permanently or during downtime. Lastly, parents can block access to adult content, purchases, and downloads.

Unfortunately, many parents are discovering that the Screen Time limits they establish for their children’s devices are randomly turning off without receiving any notifications. Despite Apple’s assurance that the issue was resolved in iOS 16.5, it continues to affect a significant number of users, even those trying the public beta of iOS 17. The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple has now acknowledged that the previous fix did not address the problem for all affected users.
