So how would it be if you were to walk into a store, fill your shopping cart & then, simply swipe your palm at the counter to walk out with your goods? Fiction, seen only in movies? Well, now it’s about to become a fact, thanks to e-commerce giant Amazon.
Amazon has introduced the “Amazon One”, a contactless way for people to use their palms to make everyday activities like paying at a store, or buying tickets.
So how does it work?
Amazon has explained in this blog post that the service was designed to be highly secure, & used custom-built algorithms & hardware to create a person’s unique palm signature.
In the 2 Amazon Go stores in Seattle & South Lake Union where it has introduced Amazon One as a payment option, here’s what customers need to do. They need to sign up at these stores using an Amazon One device, which takes seconds.
