A Better Google Maps – Quick Wrap

Google is enhancing the accessibility of its Maps, Search, and Assistant applications by introducing new features. Additionally, they are launching a novel Magnifier app designed to assist users in reading text across various settings.

Google Maps is incorporating screen reader support for its “Search with Live View” functionality, enabling individuals with visual impairments to utilize their phones to identify nearby locations such as ATMs and public transportation stations.

The “Search with Live View” feature, initially unveiled last year, empowers users to employ the camera within the Maps app to locate nearby ATMs, grocery stores, and coffee shops through overlays and markers. Currently, this feature is exclusively accessible in London.
